BRAOU M.Phil/ Ph.D Admission Notification 2018-19

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University invites applications from eligible candidates for admission into M.Phil. & Ph.D. programmes in English, Hindi, Telugu, Business Management, Commerce, Education, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, History, Library & Information Science, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology for the Academic Year 2018-19. Candidates must have completed Master degree with any subjects specified by the university and scored 55% of marks (50% for SC/ST applicants).

Eligibility

A candidate should possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned from a recognized university, with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) of marks for admission into both M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes.

Admission Procedure

Admission into M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme shall be through an entrance examination (written test) followed by an interview. However, the applicants qualified at the UGC/CSIR/JRF/NET/SLET/M.Phil./GATE tests are exempted from appearing for the entrance test provided they register themselves for the admission by paying the requisite fee.

Medium

The medium of instruction and examination for M.Phil. and Ph.D., entrance test, course work and writing dissertation/thesis shall be English only. In case of languages, the medium of instruction and other activities shall be in the language concerned.

How to Apply

The candidates can download the Application-cum-Prospectus for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes from the university website www.braou.ac.in and submit the filled-in application form along with photo copies of certificates of the qualifying examination with marks memos and a Demand Draft for Rs. 500 (Rupees Five Hundred only) drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of “The Registrar, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad”. Separate applications have to be submitted for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes if the candidate wants to apply for both.

Study Schedule

i) The M.Phil. programme consists of two parts:

Part-I: Course Work and Part-II: Dissertation

ii) The course work involves the study of two courses viz.,

a) Research Methodology; and b) Broad Field of Research

iii) The course work shall be organized over a semester consisting of 60 hours in each of the two papers/courses viz., Research Methodology and Broad Field of Research.
iv) For the completion of the programme, the candidate is required to submit a Dissertation within the stipulated period.

Teaching Methods

i. Multi-media teaching methods are used for instruction and for research guidance.
ii. The university will organize Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) for a period of one semester for course work. Attending PCP is mandatory.

Fee Particulars/Payment of Fee

1. The candidate has to pay an amount of Rs 10,000 (Rupees Ten Thousand only) per annum for two years for M.Phil. towards the tuition fee. An amount of Rs.3,000 (Rupees Three Thousand only) shall be paid towards admission fee for the programme. In addition to this, the Science students having practical component have to bear the cost of consumables/field work/hiring of equipment etc.
2. The candidate who could not submit the Dissertation within the minimum period of two years for M.Phil. has to pay at the rate of Rs.3,000/- for the remaining period prescribed to continue M.Phil. programmes.
3. Candidates who could not submit the Dissertation within the maximum period prescribed will be allowed an extension of one more year on the payment of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only).
4. Candidates have to pay an amount of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) as adjudication fee at the time of submission of Dissertation.

The fee is subject to revision from time to time

Ph.D. Exam on 29.07.2018 from 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon
M.Phil. Exam on 29.07.2018 from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM
